How should a true born again Christian react when they are being forced to do something that they dont want to do? Jesus already told us what to do in Matthew 5:41″ If anyone FORCES you to go one mile, then go with them two miles.”
So if you feel that you are being FORCED to wear a mask, then guess what Jesus would say? He would say, “Wear two masks!” The problem with Christians today is that we are stiff-necked and stubborn. The Bible warns us in Romans 2:5 “But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.”
If we do not humble ourselves, the Bible says that we are storing up wrath for ourselves. I already hear some of you saying, “Doc, wrath is for the nonbelievers!” The fact is that Romans 2 was written to the church. It was written to Christians! Paul is warning us all that if we are not careful in how we walk on this earth, God will deal with us harshly.
How is it that a simple act of wearing a mask has turned into a battle royal? I have heard so many people say that they would not wear a mask just to make someone else feel better. However, the Bible says in Romans 15: 15 “We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. “
This means that even though we are strong in our knowledge and convictions, the Bible teaches us NOT to please ourselves, but rather do what we can to ease the burden of those who are weak. If this means wearing a masks helps the weaker person feel better, then it is our duty as Believers to simply wear a mask.
See according to God, it’s not about whether something is scientifically proven to be helpful or not. To God, it’s all about the heart. God wants us to display His heart and His character towards the weak. SO rather than demanding or defending your rights, how about you crucify your flesh and bear with the scruples of the weak? I have a question. Do you know what is so telling about Romans 15:15? It uses the word “scruples.” It means doubts, hesitations and fear about a moral course of action. See, the Bible is telling us that the logic of the weak is flawed. However, even though it is flawed, God still expects us to bear with their flaws and not please ourselves. Yes, it would be great NOT to wear a mask, but that is NOT what God wants us to do. No matter how foolish it sounds, no matter how wacky the science is, God would expect us to wear a mask. Can you imagine the testimony that it would show the world if we all wore masks for the Glory of God?
